FAQs + Care Tips
- Keep clothes spaced out while hanging in your closet. Items that are packed tightly may develop wrinkles. Store out of season clothing to free up space if you have a large wardrobe.
- Never hang sweaters; always fold them up and put them in a drawer. Use scented sachets to make them smell good.
- Use quality, sturdy hangers. Wire hangers can cause your clothes to become misshapen, and over time may result in damage to the shoulders of your clothes. Padded hangers can prevent damage from occurring.
- When placing items in storage use cloth bags, also be sure the items have been cleaned beforehand. Never keep clothing in a plastic bag as this may result in trapped odors, or mildew.
- Leather should also be stored in a cloth bag, never in plastic. Keep these pieces in a cool, well-ventilated space. Leather bags should be kept open and stuffed with crumpled newspaper to absorb moisture.
- Bring pieces with stains to the cleaners as soon as possible. The longer a stain sets into fabric the more difficult it can be to remove.
- If you’ve gotten a stain on a silk piece blot the stain with a dry cloth and have it cleaned as soon as possible.
- Allow antiperspirants or deodorants to dry before putting on silk, cashmere, or satin tops; chemicals in these products can cause staining.
- Spray cologne or perfume on prior to getting dressed and allow it to dry before wearing shirts or sweaters, the chemicals in these products can stain fibers.
- Wool clothing should rest for 24 hours before being worn again. This helps the wool regain its shape and allows it to air out surface oils that are picked up while being worn.
- Leather shoes shouldn’t be worn every day, if you own more than one pair rotate them. When not wearing them keep their shape using shoe trees, also keep them stored away from heat to prevent cracking. Have them polished frequently to keep them from drying out.
- Never try to rub a stain out of satin material, this can cause the fabric to lose sheen and color permanently.
- Before putting on ties wash your hands to prevent oils from being absorbed into the material.
- Dry cleaning denim jeans can prevent fading and shrinking. If you do choose to launder them, wash jeans inside out in cold water and let them air dry. Jeans that are 100% cotton can be placed in the dryer, however be sure to remove them as soon as the cycle finishes to avoid shrinkage.
- Hang suits on wooden hangers and allow them to air out for 24 hours before hanging them in the closet. It is a good idea to wash both pieces at the same time, as some suits will lose color when cleaned.
- Wash dress shirts after purchasing them to wash out chemicals and soften the fabric.

"GreenStreets is fantastic. Their service is top notch, and Cris who works the desk is very friendly, helpful, and always remembers your name. They are fast, friendly, and efficient. My clothes always come back in perfect condition. They recently saved my nicest blazer recently getting a bunch of bad mayonnaise stains out. They also have a very convenient drop box for after hours drop off. You will not be disappointed." Zach S.
