Pre-Wedding
Alterations, pressing, and even cleaning the gown before the wedding is common. We have several prewedding options for you here. We specialize in caring for all types of wedding gowns from heirloom, to vintage to custom made.
Alterations
Our alterations specialist has spent 30 years making wedding gowns. As a result, she is very attuned to the expectations and visions of the bride to be. Today, many brides have their wedding gowns shipped from the dress maker in another town or state. In this case, it is difficult to have the final fitting or last minute alterations done by the dress maker. Our wedding gown alterations specialist works hand in hand with the bride to make sure all of her requests are met.
Pressing
After several fittings and alterations, or having your gown shipped from your dress maker, the gown may seem worn or wrinkled and will be in need of a final pressing. Our specialist hand steam presses your gown to make sure all wrinkles disappear, that every pleat or crease falls naturally, and the hem line has a clean soft fold. Areas with beading or buttons are carefully addressed to avoid any damage. After the meticulous pressing, the draping and lines of the gown will fall just as the designer intended.
Cleaning
In some cases, brides will wear their gowns to multiple ceremonies or receptions and will require the dress to look like new for each occasion. To best address any spills or stains, it is very important to clean the gown immediately after being worn. Stains that soak for longer than 48 hours are more difficult to remove. Once your gown is cleaned, it is hand pressed to restore the like new finish.
Restoration
Heirloom or vintage gowns may have yellowed over time and will need to be restored to the original condition and color prior to wearing. Our restoration solution is the only green solution in the bay area and we are the only Wedding Gown Specialist member in San Francisco certified to restore heirloom and vintage gowns.
Destination
There was a time when you could carry the gown with you and hang it in a storage cabin. Today most airlines insist you check your gown with your other luggage so unless your gown is very informal you will need a large box or an extra suitcase to protect it. We offer the Original Destination Wedding Kit which fits into the overhead space above your seat. It comes complete with tissue, packing instructions, and a shipping carton with a handle for easy carry-on and carry-off.
