Shirts
All laundered shirts will be starched to your preference and can be returned to you on a hanger or, folded and boxed. We also return golf shirts on specialized hangers to avoid wing tips.
- Platinum Shirt Service: Shirts are washed in a gentler cycle as well as being hand finished. Every shirt is carefully looked over and treated for body oils or rings around the collar. A crease is pressed into each sleeve. A collar board along with collar stays preserves the pressing of your shirt. Platinum shirts are returned on a caped hanger giving your shirt the look of being freshly ironed and ready to wear anytime.
- Standard Shirt Service: Shirts are expertly washed and pressed. Every shirt is carefully looked over and treated for body oils or rings around the collar. All laundered shirts are returned to you with the collar and third button fastened to keep the form of your shirt preserved.
- Women’s shirt price vs. standard shirts: Why do women’s laundered shirts cost more than men’s?
Laundered shirts are finished on our shirt press; the size and shape of this press is designed to fit the average dress shirt. The average women’s dress shirt has pleats, folds, and the cut itself varies from brand to brand. Due to this variation in styles, these pieces typically do not fit on the shirt press and are finished by hand rather than with the shirt press. The price difference between men’s and women’s shirts reflects the extra time that is given to them being pressed by hand.

Wedding Gowns
As a member of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists, we provide the utmost care to wedding gowns and their preservation. Prior to being washed by hand, your gown will be thoroughly examined for beads or trim that may have become loose, and any stains will be pretreated. Anti-sugar stain treatment is used in the cleaning process preventing yellowing that can occur over time from stains containing sugar, salt, or acid. After the cleaning process your gown will be hand-finished and examined for quality. Before being placed in the box for preservation you are welcome to examine your gown to be sure it has been cleaned to your satisfaction. We will preserve your gown using MuseumCare™ methods, and place it in an acid-free museum-quality box. More info »

Clothing Care Tips
-
Keep clothes spaced out while hanging in your closet. Items that are packed tightly may develop wrinkles. Store out of season clothing to free up space if you have a large wardrobe.
- Never hang sweaters; always fold them up and put them in a drawer. Use scented sachets to make them smell good.
- Use quality, sturdy hangers. Wire hangers can cause your clothes to become misshapen, and over time may result in damage to the shoulders of your clothes. Padded hangers can prevent damage from occurring.
- When placing items in storage use cloth bags, also be sure the items have been cleaned beforehand. Never keep clothing in a plastic bag as this may result in trapped odors, or mildew.
- Leather should also be stored in a cloth bag, never in plastic. Keep these pieces in a cool, well-ventilated space. Leather bags should be kept open and stuffed with crumpled newspaper to absorb moisture.
- Bring pieces with stains to the cleaners as soon as possible. The longer a stain sets into fabric the more difficult it can be to remove.
- If you’ve gotten a stain on a silk piece blot the stain with a dry cloth and have it cleaned as soon as possible.
- Allow antiperspirants or deodorants to dry before putting on silk, cashmere, or satin tops; chemicals in these products can cause staining.
- Spray cologne or perfume on prior to getting dressed and allow it to dry before wearing shirts or sweaters, the chemicals in these products can stain fibers.
- Wool clothing should rest for 24 hours before being worn again. This helps the wool regain its shape and allows it to air out surface oils that are picked up while being worn.
- Leather shoes shouldn’t be worn every day, if you own more than one pair rotate them. When not wearing them keep their shape using shoe trees, also keep them stored away from heat to prevent cracking. Have them polished frequently to keep them from drying out.
- Never try to rub a stain out of satin material, this can cause the fabric to lose sheen and color permanently.
- Before putting on ties wash your hands to prevent oils from being absorbed into the material.
- Dry cleaning denim jeans can prevent fading and shrinking. If you do choose to launder them, wash jeans inside out in cold water and let them air dry. Jeans that are 100% cotton can be placed in the dryer, however be sure to remove them as soon as the cycle finishes to avoid shrinkage.
- Hang suits on wooden hangers and allow them to air out for 24 hours before hanging them in the closet. It is a good idea to wash both pieces at the same time, as some suits will lose color when cleaned.
- Wash dress shirts after purchasing them to wash out chemicals and soften the fabric.
